AvoGreen® Monitor

Anyone wanting to become an AvoGreen® Monitor must have acceptable eyesight - click here to download an eyesight form (eyesight certificates are valid for 5 years from the date of the examination, before they need to be renewed) and need to be registered with the AIC - click here to download an application form.

In the past, Monitors had to pass a basic training course and gain practical experience by working in a 'buddy system' with an already accredited monitor for a season. This will continue, but alternative ways of gaining knowledge and demonstrating competence are also being developed. The prior experience of people wanting to become Monitors will be counted where possible.

One option being developed is to use accredited regional Trainers to undertake the training of monitors. Another is to devise a web-based learning program that includes a self-assessment module.

Once accredited the Monitor is issued with a certificate.

Although the basic Monitoring has remained the same through the current revision, there have been a number of small changes to the system and currently accredited Monitors should familiarise themselves with these (see AvoGreen® Monitoring). Further improvements to the AvoGreen® system may well be shown to be necessary over the next two years as universal adoption is implemented. For the interim, on-going training to maintain the proficiency of Monitors will be gained by attending and passing a refresher course every second year. The AIC will keep a register of monitors and notify them when their accreditation is due to expire to arrange further training.
