Flower Pruning survey: Participants sought

Thursday 3 Dec 2009

In 2008 the AIC held a number of field days to introduce a “Tree Management, Phenology and Flowering” growers’ guide. A flower pruning technique was demonstrated as a tool to manage alternate bearing.

The AIC is interested to get feedback from growers that flower pruned their trees last spring. We are particularly interested in gauging the success of flower pruning as a tree management tool and would like to invite growers who have both flower pruned and non-flower pruned areas in their orchards to contact Toni Elmsly with their observations.

Thank you to those growers who have already contacted the AIC with their flower pruning experiences. To date we have received six responses so we are still really interested to hear from more growers.

Please contact AIC Laboratory Manager, Toni Elmsly ph 07 5716147 or email: tonielmsly@nzavocado.co.nz
